Quote: Simplicity of Living

“Unnecessary possessions are unnecessary burdens. If you have them, you have to take care of them! There is great freedom in simplicity of living. It is those who have enough but not too much who are the happiest.”

          1. Smugness aside D it becomes a habit. Just as buying things you don’t need and making every small thing a drama is. Most people don’t have to think about breathing, I don’t have to think twice about throwing out a birthday card almost immediately it’s received and acknowledged or letting go of a pointless argument.

I am not suggesting I am perfect but yes certainly I am a minimalist and simple live-er by choice. People who know me for example know not to buy me presents when I have many favourite charities that their money would be better served at. I have enough. Yuck! sounds like goody 2 shoes but it’s just fact.

          2. I know they seem to grow don’t they? My mother is the opposite of me and so I get a birds eye view of how things just build and build. She is a totally susceptible consumer. Look, I say if it makes you happy why not?

          3. Ah, but does it make one happy? There’s the just-bought buzz, but it doesn’t last, and one needs increasingly bigger fixes to get the same effect. That’s not my idea of happiness.
