Whether something is old-fashioned or not doesn’t resolve the question of whether it’s true or not. I can see the temptation of simply thinking, ‘Well, there’s a cultural mainstream which flows neatly in one direction. You just align with it’. And that really won’t do.

Old-Fashioned Fruitcake
I keep finding discussions in social media that indicate being old fashioned is not a good thing, and that now that people are ‘enlightened’ enough to allow all sorts of behaviours that were once illegal, the old ways are a Bad Thing. As an Absolutist myself, these discussions are painful to be part of, and sad to watch from the sideline.
Alas, social media discussions are not renowned for being thoughtful, well-reasoned or respectfully conducted. For a long and happy life, avoid comment sections!
