My own gargoyle is still looking a little spiky in places where the pins still lurk, but those places do dwindle. Just the other night, when tempted to blob in a chair and watch a DVD with nothing for my hands to do, I thought of this very report and chipped away a little more.

How are things with your gargoyles? It’s a tricky time of year, when people start doing all the social things they know they won’t be able to fit in come December, but keep chipping away, no matter how small your chips. You’ll get there.

Now, those of you who have encountered books before may be wondering where the rest of it is. What about a spine? Or a back cover? Fear not. There shall be a back and a spine (although the spine will not be in the middle of the back, as is usual in most vertebrates I know of).

It has just occurred to me to wonder where that expression came from. What are the duckies lining up for? I fear it will end badly for them. But not for us! We shall have books, spiny and otherwise.

Myself, I’d like to find a copy of the vintage children’s craft book we used to have when I was a kid. Can’t remember the title, the author, the cover… just some of the projects inside. A toy lamb with coathangers stiffening its legs, a set of simple garden tools…
