Seriously, I just mended a torn seam on a brand new garment bought for $5 at a charity shop. I have a knitted item waiting to be unpicked at home, to reuse the wool, after finding a hole in it that can’t be repaired. It’s all about time and bothering to do these jobs – and learning the skills. They help me end up with a better garment than the bulk stuff churned out of cheap factories in China.
Yay for mending, reusing and quality clothes! I find I’m more likely to actually do the job if I have something to keep my mind amused while I work – a DVD, audiobook, my Dearly Beloved reading aloud… Perhaps it’s time to reintroduce the tradition of the Thimble Tea?
