Not sure if these count as proverbs, exactly.

Not to mention a lot of the proverbs from, you know, Proverbs. 😉
I would also be remiss if I omitted my mother’s “life is hard, and then you die.” Spoken always with a smile, to remind my brother and I that our sniveling over not getting ice cream is not the end of the world.
An enjoyable selection – I don’t have a definition, so I won’t apply one. 🙂 As for that last, I have a friend who used the variant “Fair’s where you take your best animals” – different words, but the same purpose.
